Breakfast: The Most Important Meal
Once you roll out of bed and your feet hit the floor, it’s go, go, go! What do you do for breakfast? Most people skip the meal, and head straight to work. Huge mistake! If you are trying to lose weight or control your eating habits, skipping breakfast is not the way to go. Research has shown that those who skip breakfast tend to over-eat calories throughout the rest of the day. What can you do if you are too busy to sit down for breakfast? Try a few of the following options. They are easy, convenient, and can be eaten on-the-go!
- Grab a piece of fruit as you head out the door. Fruit travels easy, it’s healthy, and you can eat it as you drive.
- Bars…there are many to choose from, but look for those that are low in fat and sugar. Read the nutrition label!
- Put a handful of whole grain, low sugar cereal in a cup of low fat yogurt.
- Mix together dried fruit, toasted seeds, whole grain cereal, and nuts. Put 1 cup of mix in a few sandwich bags, and you have several morning meals ready to take on the go!
